Today, it was announced via a brand new trailer for Sony Interactive’s new original Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) video game would be released on November 8th of this year exclusively on PS4.
Also, the trailer revealed most of the game’s cast and their characters which includes Norman Reedus as Sam, Mads Mikkelsen as Cliff, Lea Seydoux as Fragile, Margaret Qualley as Mama, Guillermo del Toro as Deadman, Nicolas Winding Refn as Heartman, Tommie Earl Jenkins as Die-Hard Man, and Troy Baker as Higgs.
We also get a better glimpse of this brand new world that seemingly is post-apocalyptic but is still populated with a handful of people armed with fantastic/futuristic technology.
I personally assume the game is meant to be more Hideo’s art in game form than a predictable straight-up AAA game release that gamers are used to and will be this masterful execution that I think some have hyped themselves up for. Given that each trailer has felt more like an art installation than a marketing campaign.
I think a lot of people are expecting a sci-fi setting with some open-world gameplay and nutty Hideo narrative elements. Hopefully, this could allow the game creator to move past the Metal Gear Solid franchise and the potential success to help give his budding game studio even more creative freedom at Sony.
