Disney has unleashed the first teaser trailer for the next original Pixar film Onward, which was written and directed by Monster University’s Dan Scanlon.
Set in a suburban fantasy world, Disney-Pixar’s “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there.
The film stars Spider-Man’s Tom Holland and Guardians of The Galaxy’s Chris Patt as two elf brothers Ian and Barley Lightfoot. Also lending their voices for the Pixar film includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the mother of Ian/Barley along with Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer in a role as well.
The teaser gives us a brief glimpse into this world slightly as the Lightfoot family pet happens to be a dragon, unicorns eat trash along with the population of citizens/creatures such as troll, elves, and mermaids (I’m sure we’ll see much more) in more of modern suburban environment rather than the traditional medieval high-fantasy setting we’re used to.
Design-wise I’m getting Wreck-It Ralph vibes which is meant as a compliment as I thought that film had some solid character designs. I can’t wait to see more from this world and who else is lurking among the populous.
Disney has set Onward’s release date for March 6th, 2020.
