‘Sinister 2/Eli’ Director Ciaran Foy Joins Netflix Horror Series ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’

HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that Sinister 2 director Ciaran Foy will join Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep) on Netflix’s horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor, an anthology sequel to the hit The Haunting of Hill House.

Foy recently directed the horror film Eli for Netflix and will be released on October 18th.

Eli’s cast consists of Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Kelly Reilly (Flight, Yellowstone), Lili Taylor (The Conjuring), and Max Martini (Pacific Rim).

The second season will take inspiration from the novella The Turn of The Screw by Henry James, which inspired multiple horror projects including Nicole Kidman’s The Others.

The 1898 novella depicts an Essex country house and a governess who has been hired to look after a pair of siblings. Her work gets severely complicated by the apparent existence of several ghosts around the manor, as well as the grip they may hold over the children. James shadows his narrative in doubt, ambiguous as to whether these spirits are real, or simply apparitions in the governess’ head.

Haunting of Hill House actors Kate Siegel, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Victoria Pedretti Henry Thomas, and Catherine Parker are set to return in new roles. We’re expecting they’ll be taking cues from Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story series by using the similar cast members in an anthology styled season.

Filming will be taking place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and is said to wrap production sometime in late February.

Mike Flanagan has recently directed a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining with Doctor Sleep starring Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson, set to be released by Warner Bros. on November 8th.

The Haunting of Bly Manor is set to drop on Netflix in 2020.
