We’re excited about the potential of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 and their next production will be a solo film focusing on Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and directed by Cate Shortland from a script by Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel, Vision & Scarlet Witch).
We have some interesting production information to share.
HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that pre-production work on Black Widow is taking place Pinewood Studios UK in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England. We were also the first to reveal that Black Widow would be filming in the United Kingdom.
There is an extremely good chance that Pinewood will be used as the primary stage location for the UK shoot, Marvel also plans on filming exterior/location scenes in and around England. It’s not terribly shocking only last year they shot Spider-Man: Far From Home in the UK. Pinewood was the production space for other Marvel films such as Doctor Strange, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Guardians of The Galaxy. It’s a perfect homestead production space if they do plan on filming scenes in various parts of Europe.
Also, we can report that the working title for Black Widow is Blue Bayou.
A possible nod to the Rob Orbison tune?
Working titles are primarily used during the filming of a movie to keep the public away from the active set. The most recent working titles for Marvel Studios productions included Mary Lou (Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers: Endgame), Open World (Captain Marvel), and Bosco (Spider-Man: Far From Home).
Filming Black Widow (aka Blue Bayou) could begin this June if the latest production information is to be believed as it supports a previous report I posted last August at OmegaUnderground, where I mentioned a Phase 4 Marvel film shooting next June in the UK and was leaning towards Black Widow.
The next big step for the production is casting and is expected to be well underway.
An official release date has yet to be announced by Marvel Studios but it looks like it could take the May 1st, 2020 spot.
