‘Sicario 2’ Director Might Direct Michael B. Jordan In Paramount’s ‘Without Remorse’

Italian director Stefano Sollima has had a very busy year he released the cartel thriller Sicario: Day of The Soldado, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario. He also signed up to direct the live-action Call of Duty movie said to begin filming in the spring/summer of next year, along with shooting two different television projects.

He’s now reportedly in talks with Paramount Pictures to direct an adaptation of the Tom Clancy novel Without Remorse according to a new report from Variety. Creed and Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan is attached to play the protagonist, John Clark. A character that is said to be featured in both Remorse and the studio’s Rainbow Six movie as well.

Clark was previously played by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger. He’ll certainly become more of a direct action character than his boy scout CIA peer Jack Ryan.

Clark, a.k.a. John Terrence Kelly is an ex-Navy Seal-turned-operations officer for the CIA and appeared in 17 novels starting with 1988’s “The Cardinal of the Kremlin.” Though mainly seen as a secondary character who helps CIA analysis Jack Ryan with more of the physical elements of any mission, Clark finally stepped into the spotlight with “Without Remorse,” which tells his backstory on how he came to work for the CIA.

I’m sure on the heels of Paramount TV’s success with rebooting the Jack Ryan franchise at Amazon, they are hopeful a new wave of Tom Clancy adaptations will find an audience with Jordan’s John Clark, yet another CIA character.

Let’s see if they can get this one off the ground.

Variety is under the impression that Without Remorse could begin shooting next year, although if Stefano is still set to direct Call of Duty that seems very unlikely. If that’s indeed the case we could end up seeing a new director in the mix for Duty.
