Russo Brothers Reveal ‘X-Men’ Franchise Cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel Has Joined ‘Cherry’

The Russo Brothers posted the first behind the scenes image from their crime flick Cherry, which is currently shooting in Clevland, Ohio.

The plot parallels the true-life story of the author, a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed PTSD, fell into an opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker was caught and convicted in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020.

Their clapper image confirms that cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel will be behind the camera on Cherry.

Newton Thomas Sigel’s credits include Drive, Valkyrie, Three Kings, The Usual Suspects, and recently worked on the Russos produced Netflix film Dhaka starring Chris Hemsworth.

He also shot multiple X-Men movies including X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse.

This would dispel previous information pointing to Avengers: Endgame cinematographer Trent Opaloch reuniting with the Russos.

The confirmed cast consists of Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgard, Ciara Bravo, Jack Reynor, Forrest Goodluck, Jeff Wahlberg, Michael Gandolfini, and Kyle Harvey.

It’s also expected to shoot scenes in California and Georgia.

Tom Holland is also set to play a young Nathan Drake in Sony’s Uncharted movie directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and will then return as Spider-Man in the third untitled solo film set for release on July 16th, 2021.

Cherry is currently without a release date.
