Kevin Feige Announces ‘What-If?’ Series On Disney+ Has 10-Episodes For Season 1 & Season

Disney+ launched last month and we’re still under a year before we actually get a taste of our first live-action MCU hard-canon series with The Falcon & The Winter Soldier expected to be released next fall.

They’re also dabbling with animation with their new Disney+ series What-If? based on the fantastic comic books that focus on alternative versions of superheroes, villains, and superhero team lineups.

During a conversation with BuzzFeed Brazil at CCXP 2019, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige not only revealed that the first season of their animated series What-If? would be getting 10-episodes, but announced a second season is coming and will also have 10-episodes.

FEIGE: “I’m very happy that we’re doing a What-If? series for Disney+ right now and I’ve seen most of them, we have ten for season one. We’re already working on the next ten for season two.”

“We’ve revealed one that is very exciting that we’ve talked about for years which is the one where Peggy Carter gets the super-soldier serum and becomes Captain Carter that’s the very first episode and I’m excited for people to see that. I’m excited to see the finished version of that and I’m excited for the world to see it.”

You can watch that exchange below.

This would be the first Marvel Studios series on Disney+ to get a second season, it remains to be seen if any or some of the live-action shows will be getting multiple seasons given most are being labelled as “limited series”.

Episodes we currently know about include Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) becoming Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) with Skinny Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in a WWII era Iron Man suit built by Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper).

A Marvel Zombies episode featuring Baron Zemo, Zombie Cap, and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

Also, a cosmic episode with T’Challa/Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) becoming Starlord from Guardians of The Galaxy and the return of Ego (Kurt Russell).

There was a bit of concept art from the series that might be what looks like could be sPeter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) becoming an alternative version of Hawkeye. The artwork was spotted in the recent Expanding The Universe special (exclusively on Disney+) by our very own Nicholas Whitcomb.

We also might be getting Pepper Potts as Iron Woman and an alternative version of Thor.

Jeffrey Wright (The Batman, No Time To Die, Westworld) will be voicing our host of the series, the Watcher, as the character navigates the audience threw the Multiverse.

What-If? is aiming for a summer 2020 release on Disney+.
