Writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has officially announced that Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 will see the return of the character Eugene Kittridge, who pursued the framed Ethan Hunt in the original film after he is accused of killing his team and stealing the knock-list to sell on the black market.
Kittridge was played by veteran Canadian actor Henry Czerny (Clear & Present Danger).
You can check out McQuarrie’s official announcement post from his Instagram account below.
Henry will be joining a growing cast the includes Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Doctor Sleep), Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Captain America: The First Avenger), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, Avengers: Infinity War), Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class, Those Who Wish Me Dead), and Shea Whigham (Agent Carter).
There is an assumption that Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, and Angela Bassett could be coming back too.
Adding Kittridge wouldn’t the be the first time that McQuarrie has linked his movies to the original directed by Brain De Palma as Vanessa Kirby’s White Widow was the daughter of Max, who was the buyer of the knock-list played by Vanessa Redgrave.
Filming will begin this year (both films shooting back-to-back) and HN Entertainment had reported previously they’ll be shooting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England which was the stage location the last two films.
Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release on July 31st, 2021 and Mission: Impossible 8 on August 5th, 2022.
