HN Entertainment has been able to confirm yet another Marvel Television alumni for the Hulu series Helstrom, which features two Marvel Comics characters Daimon Helstrom and his sister Ana Helstrom (children of Satan in the comics).
In Marvel’s Helstrom, Daimon (aka Son of Satan) and Ana Helstrom (aka Satana) are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity — each with their attitude and skills.
We’ve learned that director Sanford Bookstaver will tackle an episode of the series which is well into production in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
He’s previously worked on Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Scorpion, Power, House, and Breakout Kings.
Tom Austen (The Borgias) and Sydney Lemmon (Succession, Fear The Walking Dead) will be leading the series as the two Helstrom siblings.
Some of the other directors we’ve exclusively reported that are also working on the series include Amanda Row (Cloak & Dagger), Jovanka Vuckovic (Riot Girls), Michael Offer (The Punisher), and Daina Reid (The Handmaid’s Tale).
Helstrom is expected to be the final live-action series from the Jeph Loeb era of Marvel Television after the recent news that shows left standing such as Hulu’s Runaways along with Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger are being cancelled.
Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider series was also killed just before production was set to begin, which has now sparked fan speculation that Marvel Studios may have plans for the character (has not been confirmed).
There had been reports that Loeb would be officially stepping down from the company over the Thanksgiving holiday, however, a formal announcement by Marvel has yet to be made.
This seeming stemming from Kevin Feige’s new role as the chief creative officer at Marvel as he’ll now be overseeing the film, television, animation, and publication divisions.
Helstrom is expected to drop sometime next year.
