Blumhouse Looking To Adapt Image Comics’ ‘Hack/Slash’ Into A Feature Film?

Image Comics’ horror comic Hack/Slash has had movie in development for over a decade and it looks like another incarnation is on the horizon. SuperBroMovies is reporting that Blumhouse Productions is the latest to attempt a feature film.

Blumhouse Productions has quickly become a household name in horror in recent years. They have been behind the Insidious and Purge franchises as well as the more recent Halloween movie, and they won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Blumhouse is currently developing a Hack/Slash movie based on the Image Comics series, a source close to the property confirmed to SuperBroMovies.

At one time, Transformers actress Megan Fox had been attached for the lead role of Cassie Hack, but her time in the spotlight has certainly come and gone. There had also been a television series in development that never went anywhere.

Hack/Slash centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliche of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. But now, the emotionally damaged girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Along with a burly protector named Vlad, Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Halloween‘s Michael Myers, Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Freddy Krueger.

On the heels of the massive success of their recent release of revived incarnation of Halloween, it certaily makes sense they attempt to release more slasher genre horror flicks.

This wouldn’t be the only Image Comics property that Blumhouse is turning into a feature film as they’ve been hashing out a new live-action Spawn movie with writer-director-creator Todd McFarlane starring Jeremy Renner as Twitch and Jamie Foxx as Al Simmons/Spawn. Although, that project’s production shoot keeps getting habitually delayed.

Neither a screenwriter or director were named, so it’s anyone’s guess when this could actually go into production.
