The other day, it sounded like Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy was very much open to the idea of exploring the past of Star Wars while speaking with EntertainmentWeekly, which might include The Old Republic era of the franchise.

Well, MTVNews has now specifically asked Kathleen about the prospect of tackling The Old Republic during Star Wars Celebration and she revealed they are “developing something”, but seemed to be very cautious about what those plans could be and if they’ll even come together.

MTV: Knights of The Old Republic, a lot of fans wanna see that, is there any development of that?

KENNEDY: “You know, we talk about that all the time. Yes, we are developing something to look at. Right now, I have no idea where things might fall..”

You can watch that full video clip below.

When or where we might see The Old Republic remains a mystery. I know a lot of people have made the assumption that the David Benioff/Dan Weiss project would be automatically the Old Republic related because of their work on Game of Thrones, but they could just as easily cover that group with another wave of Disney+ series.

I’m going to keep my fingers crossed it’s not an animated project.

It could also have something to do with their big summit taking place next month at Lucasfilm and they don’t actually have those plans even completely mapped-out to even talk about them in any great detail.
