Since his introduction in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ Kylo Ren has displayed a conflict not seen since Anakin Skywalker in ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ While interesting based upon his true identity as Ben Solo, it’s uncertain what his fate will be. Personally, I believe that the signs point to a redemption arc for the character as without Snoke his inclination for evil was slim.
In the novelization for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,’ it’s said that Rey’s connection to the Force developed to the point that she began receiving clarity on the Force’s direction for her and Kylo. This means that Rey began to understand the mysterious ways of the Force. Rey at this moment saw herself as an instrument of the Force instead of her directing the Force for her desires. With Kylo, she saw that killing him wasn’t the answer because she sensed that one day the Force would use Kylo as it uses Rey. This is a contrast to Kylo’s current mentality, according to the novelization, which has him determined to bend the Force to his will.
This all appears to be foreshadowing of Kylo Ren living his life at some point according to the will of the Force. What is the Force’s will? Nobody really knows, although it’s presumably different than his current objectives. It’s interesting as the novelization confirms this aspect of the Force to be the Cosmic Force, which according to Luke has its own awareness, will, and purpose which awoken once Luke went into exile.
Based upon this correlation my theory is that the Force wants to establish a new Order in the galaxy. Kylo Ren as the new Supreme Leader is in a position of authority to create infrastructure and governmental order towards peace and balance. At the same time, Rey will be presumably building a new Jedi order which will help promote and maintain the order hopefully more effectively than the last Jedi Order.
Leave your thoughts in the comments section below, do you think Kylo Ren will redeem himself? If so, what actions do you think Kylo Ren can take which would balance the role he had in throwing the galaxy out of balance?
