It’s been ten years since the original Zombieland was released and we’re pleased-as-punch that we’ll finally get the sequel this fall, titled Zombieland: Double Tap the sequel is expected to amp-up the action and who they’ve added to tackle action sequences may support that theory.
HN Entertainment has learned that the horror comedy sequel has added veteran Kiwi stunt coordinator Markos Rounthawite (will also act as the film’s 2nd Unit director) and special effects coordinator J.D. Schwalm.
Markos has previously worked on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Green Zone, The Gunman, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, Lord of The Rings: and Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance. His recent work includes the Hellboy reboot and Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angel reboot starring Kristen Stewart.
J.D.’s special effects credits include Avatar 2, Hobbs and Shaw, Jungle Cruise, Venom, The Jungle Book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows, First Man, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, and the currently untitled Jumanji sequel.
They join an impressive production team that includes production designer Martin Whist (The Predator, Cloverfield, Cabin In The Woods) and cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung (IT, Oldboy), previously revealed by DiscussingFilm.

The original cast consisting of Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin will have to deal with fellow human survivors along with a varied spectrum of new types of zombies that have evolved. New additions to the cast include Rosario Dawson (Sin City, Death Proof), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley, Godzilla: King of The Monsters), Zoey Deutch, and Avan Jogia.
Filming has been underway since last month in Atlanta with Venom director Ruben Fleischer at the helm working from a script penned by Deadpool/Deadpool 2 screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Sony Pictures has set Zombieland: Double Tap’s release date for October 11th.
