Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, Mad Max: Fury Road) has reportedly landed the role of Selina Kyle in The Batman according to TheHollywoodReporter.
HeroicHollywood first broke that Warner Bros. and writer/director Matt Reeves were interested in Zoe Kravitz for the part along with seeking a woman of color for the part. Although, they didn’t seem terribly confident that she would land the role.
One source tells us Matt Reeves wants a Zoe Kravitz-type actress to play Catwoman, meaning whoever is cast will likely be Black or biracial. Zoe Kravitz was the actual choice/prototype for the Catwoman role, but the actress is not available due to her busy schedule.
THR adding that Zoe tested with Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman) alongside fellow contenders Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049, No Time To Die), Eiza Gonzalez (Godzilla vs Kong, Baby Driver), and Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels).
The decision came down over the weekend after a rigorous testing process that saw Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska, Eiza Gonzalez and Kravitz read with Robert Pattinson, who is playing the Dark Knight. The testing process occurred the first week of October. The four were then narrowed to two late last week.
Zoe notoriously missed out on a role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright is also playing Commissioner Jim Gordan and Jonah Hill is in talks for Riddler/Penguin.
Filming will begin next year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England.
The Batman has been set for a release of June 25th, 2021 by Warner Bros.
