Looks like Zendaya may be jumping from one popular franchise to another.
According to Collider, Zendaya is being eyed to play Timothée Chalamet‘s love interest Chani, in the upcoming reboot. The charachter of Chani is the girl of Paul’s dreams who takes on a leading role as his proper love interest in the next Dune film.
The singer/actress would join a star studded cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, and fellow new addition Oscar Isaac.
Based on adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Hugo and Nebula award-winning series Dune, Villeneuve’s relaunch will be split into two films telling the futuristic tale of noble houses grappling for control of a hostile planet containing the universe’s only repository of a highly valuable spice. Chalamet will play the son of a noble family whose sands are the only source of a powerful drug called “the spice.” After his family is brought down in a traitorous plot, Paul (Chalamet) and his mother Jessica (Ferguson) embark on a journey to bring fruition to humankind’s most ancient and unattainable dream.
Production is slated to begin early 2019 with a release yet to be announced. Our very own Christopher Marc has been exclusively updating the films behind the scenes team, which you can check out here.
