HN Entertainment has learned that Zack Snyder’s zombie heist film Army of The Dead starring Dave Baustisa has added art director Brett McKenzie, whose latest work includes season four of the TNT series Animal Kingdom (based on the Australian thriller) that focuses on a close-knit family of thieves.
Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
McKenzie previously worked with Army of The Dead’s production designer Julie Berghoff for the limited series Unbelievable and on the TNT/Patty Jenkins miniseries, I Am The Night starring Wonder Woman’s Chris Pine.
We’ve also been able to confirm ProductionWeekly’s previous claims that filming will take place in the state of New Mexico. Presumably, it would be filming in Albuquerque as the city is the film/television hub of the state.
Filming is said to begin mid-July and would likely mean more casting announcements are incoming.
This would be the first horror film tackled by Snyder since the James Gunn penned Dawn of The Dead from 2004.
Netflix has yet to officially announce a release date for Army of The Dead.
