A while back it was announced that Zack Snyder would be returning to his horror roots after making his feature directorial debut with Dawn of The Dead, with the Netflix film titled Army of The Dead.
The adventure is set amid a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.
ProductionWeekly now suggests that principal photography on the Zack Snyder film could begin around mid-July in the state of New Mexico. They had previously said that Snyder was eyeing other filming locations such as Las Vegas, Nevada, and Los Angeles, California.

A recent interview with Guardians of The Galaxy/Avengers actor Dave Bautista (Dune, Spectre) alluded to him possibly having a role in the movie.
Snyder’s last three films have been attempting to help setup the DC Cinematic Universe with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Justice League. Army of the Dead will likely give him a little more wiggle room to make something that won’t have fan expectations.
I guess we won’t be hearing any concrete casting news until the spring but nothing would surprise me and we could get more information on the project in the near future.
Netflix has yet to give Army of The Dead an official release date, but dropping in 2020 is a good bet depending on how much visual effects work is involved.
