Woody Harrelson Joins Mary Elizabeth Winstead In Netflix Action Flick ‘Kate’ and ‘John Wick’ Franchise Stunt Coordinator Confirmed

Netflix has announced today that three-time Oscar nominee Woody Harrelson (Zombieland, Solo: A Star Wars Story) has joined the cast of their upcoming action flick Kate starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, Fargo).

After she’s irreversibly poisoned, a ruthless criminal operative has less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her enemies and in the process forms an unexpected bond with the daughter of one of her past victims.

HN Entertainment previously revealed plot details of the film, which includes that Kate (Winstead) kidnaps a girl named Ani, who happens be the daughter/heir to a Yakuza clan boss which is referred to as a Yakuza Princess. As the film’s setting is said to be in Toyko, Japan.

They’ve also announced the film’s production team, this includes John Wick franchise stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, who recently worked with Winstead on the DC Comics film Birds of Prey.

Stunt Coordinator and Second Unit Director Jonathan Eusebio (John Wick franchise, Birds of Prey, Black Panther), Academy Award Winning Special Effects Make-Up Designer Damian Martin (Mad Max: Fury Road), Visual Effects Producer Taylor Rockwell (Bad Times at the El Royale, The Fate of the Furious) and Production Designer Dominic Watkins (The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, The Mummy, The Bourne Supremacy) and DP Lyle Vincent (Dreamland, Bad Education).

David Leitch and Kelly McCormick are producing the action flick.

Filming was said to begin this fall, which might suggest that Venom 2 could end up getting delayed into 2020 given that Woody was set to play Carnage in the sequel.

Kate is expected to be released sometime in 2020.
