With Aquaman and Shazam releasing in the next couple of months we have a small post-production tidbit to share concerning Wonder Woman 1984, which has been pushed its release date to summer 2020 giving them plenty of time to tweak effects and opens the door for multiple opportunities for pickups/reshoots.

We have learned that Wonder Woman 1984 has added visual effects supervisor John Moffatt to oversee the film. John’s other visual effects work consists of Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1-2, Snow White and The Huntsman, and Life.

The cast consists of Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Ravi Patel, Natasha Rothwell, Gabrielle Wilde, Kristoffer Polaha, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen.

As the title suggests, the sequel will be set during the 1980s. Kristen Wiig is confirmed to be playing archeologist Barbara Minerva turned Wonder Woman rogue Cheetah while recent rumors suggest that Pedro could be playing businessman and DC villain Maxwell Lord (vis SuperBroMovies). It remains to be seen how Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor is resurrected for the film.

Filming is seemingly still underway as an official wrap announcement hasn’t been made.

Warner Bros. recently pushed Wonder Woman 1984’s release date from November 1st, 2019 to June 5th, 2020.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
