Will Godzilla Be Manipulated By Humans in ‘Godzilla vs Kong’?

In Godzilla vs Kong, the world of MonsterVerse will be more different than we have seen it in past movies. Taking place in a world with active Titans on every continent, humanity will be confronted by the threat certain Titans will present to society whether due to their destructive potential or other reasons. One of the reactions to the modern world containing various Titans is described as a human conspiracy which threatens to wipe the Titans from the face of the Earth.

Likely, this will be a human effort stemming from events in Godzilla: King of the Monsters which is set to release in theaters in May 2019. With confirmation by multiple reports, toy leaks, and more than a group of human characters from within Monarch will utilize puppet-master type manipulation of events, it wouldn’t be surprising to see those characters return in Godzilla vs Kong.

In this case, they may understand that “The Alpha” is the main threat to them taking out the Titans, so they want to set him up to be “dethroned.” Being based in Skull Island, Kong is well hidden from the world even though Monarch knows he exists. The filming of Godzilla vs Kong also took place largely in Hawaii, not too dissimilar to Kong: Skull Island which indicates a sizeable part of the film will take place on Skull Island. If the evil group of humans can control Titans based on events in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla would be the best choice.

Vera Farmiga, who plays Dr. Emma Russel, stated in an interview with Metro that “She has figured out a way to communicate with the creatures and potentially control them using their bioacoustics on a sonar level.” This would explain how Mothra could be calmly approached by her character & Millie Bobby Brown’s character in the trailer. Continuing this plot thread would also explain the reappearance of the characters Madison Russell as she likely has experience or knowledge regarding the technology.

Targeting Kong would be potentially set up for 2 reasons. The first reason is that Skull Island’s hidden nature makes it the perfect place to test such technology without getting caught. It also may be possible that Kong is immune to controlling technology as his body responds to things differently than Titans such as Godzilla or Rodan who are more reptile-like in biology.

It’s possible this evil group of human characters wants to kill Kong since he would be a threat to them controlling Titans without resistance. This would also provide the foundation for why Godzilla is fighting Kong in the first place as both Titans have kept their distance for decades since Monarch began tracking both monsters.
