We’re excited to see how the live-action Swamp Thing series pans-out as it is produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster with Underworld director Len Wiseman involved as well. There is another interesting casting addition as Deadline reports that Swamp Thing has added Westworld actor Leonardo Nam (Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift) in the role of Harlan Edwards.
Nam will play Harlan Edwards, a gay CDC specialist who is Abby’s (Reed) second-in-command. Nam is best known for his portrayal of lab technician Felix Lutz on HBO’s sci-fi seriesWestworld, opposite Thandie Newton and Evan Rachel Wood.
The rest of Swamp Thing’s cast includes Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Crystal Reed, Virginia Madsen, and Will Patton. Filming is currently taking place in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.
I’m a little curious if the series is to increase the public awareness of the character ahead of a potential revival of Justice League Dark, where he played a supporting role among many other horror/occult DC Comics heroes.
Swamp Thing will be released on the streaming service DC Universe later this year.
