TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that Wes Anderson’s next film will be getting a prime summer release date in July, the news coming from Searchlight Pictures.
The film’s full title will be The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun and will be officially released on July 24th by Disney’s Searchlight Pictures (formerly Fox Searchlight).
French Dispatch stars Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Timothee Chalamet, Saorise Ronan, Adrien Brody, Lea Seydoux, Mathieu Amalric, Henry Winkler, Fisher Stevens, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Rupert Friend, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park, Owen Wilson, Alex Lawther, and Elisabeth Moss.
The French Dispatch portrays journalists in an outpost of an American magazine in a fictional 20th-century French city, and brings to life a collection of the stories they author for the final issue.
Filming previously took place in Angoulême, France.
I have to assume we’ll get the normal whimsical from Anderson given that the location is a fictional French city.
There is a good shot that the Searchlight film will be attempting to make an early awards campaign run, not unlike their recent awards darling Jojo Rabbit.
