HN Entertainment has learned that production designer Jon Billington has joined the production team for the Warner Bros. reboot of the classic and violent western The Wild Bunch.
Jon’s credits include The Interview, Bad Boys For Life, and recently worked on Boss Level (which co-starred director Mel Gibson).
The cast reportedly will include Michael Fassbender, Jamie Foxx, and Peter Dinklage.
It’ll be interesting to see if the new incarnation can match the original as we’ve seen most western remakes slightly miss the mark.
In this gritty Western classic, aging outlaw Pike Bishop (William Holden) prepares to retire after one final robbery. Joined by his gang, which includes Dutch Engstrom (Ernest Borgnine) and brothers Lyle (Warren Oates) and Tector Gorch (Ben Johnson), Bishop discovers the heist is a setup orchestrated in part by his old partner, Deke Thornton (Robert Ryan). As the remaining gang takes refuge in Mexican territory, Thornton trails them, resulting in fierce gunfights with plenty of casualties.
Warner Bros. has yet to give the western remake an official release date.
