Following the home releases of Trolls World Tour and Disney’s Artemis Fowl, Warner Bros. has announced that their first full-length animation film for Scooby-Doo is not going to hits cinemas when they eventually reopen.
WB announced today that on May 15th Scoob! is going straight to VOD. It will become available to rent for $19,99 and buy for $24,99 – the date of launching is the same that was going to be released in cinemas around the world.
Chairman-CEO Ann Sarnoff made the announcement with a mix of sadness and joy in her statement:
SARNOFF: “While we’re all eager to be able to once again show our films in theaters, we’re navigating new, unprecedented times which call for creative thinking and adaptability in how we distribute our content. We know fans are eager to see Scoob! and we’re delighted we can deliver this feel-good movie for families to enjoy while they’re home together.”
Scoob! will focus on the origin story of Scooby-Doo and Shaggy and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc. The voice cast is amazing and is as follows:
Starring as Shaggy is Will Forte (Booksmart, The Last Man on Earth); as Blue Falcon two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter, The Departed) as Dick Dastardly is Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films, The OA); Gina Rodriguez (Deepwater Horizon, Jane the Virgin) as Velma; Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman, Neighbors franchise) as Fred; Daphne is played by Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia! films and Ted 2) and Frank Welker (from Transformers franchise) as Scooby-Doo. Adding an appearance by Simon Cowell (American Idol, The X Factor) as himself.
