WB Shifts Release Dates for ‘The Batman’, ‘Shazam! 2’ & ‘The Flash’

Warner Bros. has shifted a handful of their DC Comics slate with Matt Reeves’ The Batman moving from June 25th, 2021 to Oct 1st, 2021, it’s unknown when production will resume but certainly gives them a little more wiggle-room as Reeves recently confirmed they had only completed a quarter of the production shoot before things paused over the COVID-19 pandemic.

REEVES: “I wanted to do not an origin tale, but a tale that would still acknowledge his origins, in that it formed who he is. Like this guy, he’s majorly struggling, and this is how he’s trying to rise above that struggle. But that doesn’t mean that he even fully understands, you know. It’s that whole idea of the shadow self and what’s driving you, and how much of that you can incorporate, and how much of it you’re doing that you’re unaware of.”

“We’re not officially editing right now. We’ve actually shot a quarter of the movie and I have been pouring through dailies, looking at takes, and what’s to come.”

October is potentially a good luck slot for WB/DC with Joker being released in that month last year and ended up earning over a billion at the box office.

They’ve also delayed David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! sequel a full seven months from April 1st, 2022 to November 4th, 2022.

Flash fans should be relieved to hear the studio has bumped up the release from July 1st, 2022 to June 3rd, 2022. Andy Muschietti (IT, IT: Chapter Two) is directing and presumably, they still expect to have Ezra Miller in the lead role.

However, when cameras will roll on the three films is currently unknown at this time.

Which DC Comics film are you most excited to see released?
