Our pal actor Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Black Mirror) has revealed on his official Instagram account that he has wrapped on Mortal Kombat, that was shooting at Adelaide Studios in South Australia.
It’s unknown if they’ve completely wrapped or just Ludi has completed his Liu Kang scenes.
UPDATE: Lewis Tan has also wrapped filming which likely means they’ve completed principal photography.

Picture wrap on Mortal Kombat! This will take awhile to process before I can put the feelings into words accurately, for now I’m depleted, physically and emotionally, I’m delighted and exhilarated, that is how it should feel at the end, give everything for the art. Risk it all. We made something truly special here. I’m proud. The filmmakers and crew were top of their class and beyond professional. Australia delivered unique and breathtaking landscapes. The cast have created a family and bond that will last forever. Thank you @simonmcquoid for your trust and guidance, you are the embodiment of a leader. Lastly, my inspiration. My niece was born with rare a lung disease when she was 3, doctors said she wouldn’t make it, she fought through unthinkable circumstances and impossible odds just to survive. A true warrior. Shes 15 now. This year when I turned down 3 films and 2 TV shows to spend months reading for a huge film that eventually wasn’t for me, she was there texting me support daily, now she sittin in my chair watching me perform as I lead my first studio picture. Never. Ever. Give. Up. #MortalKombatMovie #MortalKombat
Here’s a rundown of the cast that has been officially announced.
- Ludi Lin as Liu Kang.
- Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion.
- Chin Han as Shang Tsung.
- Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade.
- Josh Lawson as Kano.
- Lewis Tan possibly playing new character Cole Turner.
- Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero.
- Tadanobu Asano as Raiden.
- Mehcad Brooks as Jax.
- Sisi Stringer as Melina.
Also, Warner Bros. has given the R-rated action flick a brand new release date of January 15th, 2021 moving up from March 5th, 2021.
This could suggest that the studio is expecting the film to be ready sooner than expected.
The new incarnation will embrace the gory and hyper-violent nature of the popular fighting video game franchise.
I think we’re all hoping they end up using the iconic theme song and amping it up for a new generation.
It’s possible if the film is successful enough they could end up making a string of installments.
MORTAL KOMBAT (1995) – Lord Rayden (Christopher Lambert) handpicks three martial artists — federal agent Sonya Blade (Bridgette Wilson), Shaolin monk Lui Kang (Robin Shou) and action movie sensation Johnny Cage (Linden Ashby) — and mentors them. After intense training, Rayden transports the trio to Outworld, the site of an inter-dimensional fighting tournament. There, the three humans must defeat the demonic warriors of the evil Shang Sung (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) — or allow Sung to take over the Earth.
