While development and production news is mostly sparse these days, there is a new monster movie cooking-up at Universal Pictures and could be great news for horror fans.
Variety is reporting that director Stephen Williams has signed on to helm a new thriller for Universal Pictures titled Don’t Go in The Water from a script penned by screenwriter Peter Gaffney (The Simpsons, Rugrats, Recess, Beavis & Butt-Head) that is said to be a monster movie.
The film is described as a suspenseful monster movie
Williams is best known for his various television credits such as Watchmen, Westworld, Lost, The Walking Dead, Agent Carter, Person of Interest, and Dark Angel. His Watchmen episode titled This Extraordinary Being focuses on the origins of Hooded Justice and is one of that show’s big standouts.
It remains to be seen if Don’t Go in The Water will be part of the Universal Monsters lineup or something completely original as the studio has multiple “monster” and horror projects in various levels of development. The title would suggest some sort of water-based monster that could be anything from a shark to some sort of mutant creature.
