Triple Frontier has had an odd history as the cartel heist movie was once at Paramount Pictures with Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow attached before J.C. Chandor signed-on to direct and it jumped to Netflix. The impressive cast includes Ben Affleck, Oscar Issac, Pedro Pascal, Garrett Hedlund, and Charlie Hunnam. They shot most of the film in Hawaii and it certainly has the production value you’d expect of a mid-range budgeted action film.
The action flick seemingly pulls it’s characters into the world of drug cartels not unlike recent projects within that criminal sandbox like Sicario, Sicario: Day of The Soldado, and Netflix’s own Narcos/Narcos: Mexico.
Netflix has now released a first-look trailer for the action thriller and is expected to drop on the streaming service and in theaters in March.
Five former Special Forces operatives reunite to plan a heist in a sparsely populated multi-border zone of South America. For the first time in their prestigious careers these unsung heroes undertake this dangerous mission for self instead of country. But when events take an unexpected turn and threaten to spiral out of control, their skills, their loyalties and their morals are pushed to a breaking point in an epic battle for survival.
