Director James Mangold (Walk The Line, Logan) is back with what looks to be an exciting and fun racing biopic Ford v Ferrari starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon as driver Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby as they embark on the task of making a Ford race car that can beat the legendary Italian speedsters created by Enzo Ferrari.
20th Century Fox has dropped the first trailer for the film and I have to say as someone who isn’t huge on racing/cars this looks like the type of movie to suck me into this world, and there are some mighty fine character moments displayed here.
Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.
Earlier in the year, HN Entertainment spoke with Australian actor Ben Rigby about his role in the film and his experience working on it as he portrays driver/engineer Bruce McLaren.
20th Century Fox has set the film’s release date for November 15th, a prime spot for awards consideration as the film does seem like it’ll be a strong contender if the trailer is any indication of the quality of the acting and overall film.
