Variety reports that director Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, The Accountant) is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to replace Taylor Sheridan (Wind River) on their action thriller Fast, which previously had Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) attached to star. The studio failed to make a deal work with Sheridan, leading to Gavin going into the mix and the report also suggests that Pratt’s involvement is also now in question. Sheridan who had penned Wind River, Hell or High Water, and Sicario is also behind the script for Fast.
Fast follows a former special forces commando who’s recruited by the DEA to lead a black ops strike team targeting drug dealers who are protected by the CIA.
There might be a good chance that Ben Affleck ends up taking a leading role as Warner Bros. and Gavin recently paired with Ben on the drama Torrance. Ben and Gavin had worked together on the action flick The Accountant as well, that has a sequel in early development.
Originally, WB had been eyeing a spring shoot but that was before Taylor Sheridan left the project possibly also leaving them without a lead actor as well. Once we get some updated production information and casting news we’ll certainly give some updates on the project.
