Back in October, Vin Diesel, the star and executive producer of the billion-dollar franchise, teased the possibility of a female-led Fast and Furious spinoff.
The franchise is already in the middle of launching a spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, which opens in July. But the idea of an offshoot, possibly focused on Michelle Rodriguez, began forming.
Now, Diesel has seemingly confirmed that it’s happening. In the caption of the photo, which featured himself with sister and franchise producer Samantha Vincent, he revealed they had recently heard a “very exciting” pitch for the spinoff from writers Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

As you know, there are three new spin offs that We have promised Universal… well this week we heard a pitch for the Fast female protagonist driven spinoff I created in 2017, and you can tell by the smile on Samantha’s face it was VERY exciting. Shout out to Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Welcome to the Fast FAMILY…
Perlman has two Marvel Studios’ credits, one on the original script for Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. Beer wrote the Netflix movie Sierra Burgess Is a Loser and is attached to the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. And Robertson-Dworet wrote the recent Tomb Raider movie. All three were part of the Hasbro shared universe writers’ room.
If their script is accepted by Universal and the upcoming Hobbs & Shaw proves to be a hit, the film will likely be fast-tracked into production. The Fast & Furious franchise, which is currently at 8 movies total have combined to gross a massive $5 billion at the worldwide box office.
