Vin Diesel has taken to his official Instagram account to announce that they’ve completed the United Kingdom leg of the Fast and Furious 9 filming, to celebrate he posted a video officially revealing that rapper/actress Cardi B (Hustlers) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role (looks to be one of the good guys).
Cardi will join a supporting cast that includes Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Michael Rooker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordan Brewster, Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, and Vinnie Bennett.
Dwayne Johnson publicly stated at Sundance to MTVNews earlier this year that he won’t be appearing in the film, but hasn’t ruled out returning for Fast and Furious 10.
Johnson and Jason Statham starred in Hobbs and Shaw which turned a decent profit, there are already rumblings of the studio wanting multiple sequels.
There is also talk of an all-female spinoff movie in the works as well, I have to assume that Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren would be part of that lineup.
Justin Lin is back as director and is expected to come back for the 10th installment as well.
We’re still waiting on an official synopsis and trailer.
Vin, Tyrese, and Cena have a bunch of comic book movies coming out in the next little while with Sony’s Bloodshot (February 21st, 2020), Spider-Man spinoff Morbius (July 31st, 2020), and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (August 6th, 2021) respectively.
Universal Pictures has set the release date of Fast and Furious 9 for May 22nd, 2020.
