Ahead of the release of the upcoming season of Vikings it looks like the show will be ending. Deadline is reporting that History’s period action drama Vikings will end after it’s sixth season but reveal early development plans for a spin-off series from Die Hard screenwriter Jeb Stuart (Leviathan, Another 48 Hours, The Fugitive) and Vikings creator Michael Hirst.
History’s flagship scripted series Vikings will be ending its run after the upcoming 20-episode sixth season.
As the hit drama is wrapping, History, Vikings creator Michael Hirst and studio MGM Television, are looking to extend the Vikings franchise with a new series. I’ve learned that the network is in talks with MGM and Hirst about a new series from the same creative team as the original series, which would continue the Vikings saga. If the offshoot project, which is in early stages, moves forward, Hirst will be joined by feature writer Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive).
This should be good news for fans that might be concerned by this news of the show ending and having the screenwriter of Die Hard and MGM involved should give a hint that they’re serious about its development.
