Ridley Scott has cast the first role for his TNT science fiction series Raised By Wolves, as Deadline reports Vikings star Travis Fimmel will play the male lead on the show. Deadline also is confirming bits and pieces from our recent exclusive character breakdowns for the series, including the name of the male lead, Father, who will be played by Travis Fimmel.
Raised by Wolves, from writer-showrunner Aaron Guzikowski, Scott Free, Turner’s Studio T and Madhouse Entertainment, centers upon two androids — Father (Fimmel) and Mother — tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.
As we reported, the main roles have a multi-season commitment to the role which could suggest Fimmel won’t be involved with the upcoming Vikings spin-off series being developed at MGM.
We also previously revealed that Scott would be reuniting with crew members such as Alien: Covenant production designer Chris Seagers and Prometheus/Alien: Covenant costume designer Janty Yates.
Filming is expected to begin soon in Cape Town, South Africa.
TNT has yet to announce an official air date for Raised By Wolves but sometime in 2020 would make sense.
