MTV News had a busy night on the red carpet of the Golden Globes. First, they were able to get Kevin Feige to sing the praises of Vice director Adam McKay and comment on the idea of him directing a Silver Surfer movie that was brought up on the HappySadConfused podcast.
A little after that, they were able to get a bit of a comment from McKay again about the project and gives some sort of hint that some sort of discussion, either between him and his agent or with Marvel about possibly actually doing Silver Surfer.
“(Laughs) There actually has been some discussion about Silver Surfer. My agent certainly woke up. They were excited. We’re in the middle of, you know, backing Vice right now, but, who knows, in a couple of months it could pop up. I really am excited by that idea. So, we’ll see what happens.”

However, until the merger is finalized real talks/development can’t proceed.
McKay isn’t the only one attempting to campaign to get to play with the new Fox/Marvel characters in the future. Ant-Man director Peyton Reed had previously pitched a Fantastic Four set in the 1960s and still seems keen on the idea. The Russo Brothers want a shot at tackling Wolverine and have also seemingly backed the idea of Noah Hawley’s (Lucy In The Sky, Legion, Fargo) Doctor Doom film that had been in development at 20th Century Fox making the jump in the MCU as well.
When and where the Silver Surfer arrives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will remain a mystery for the moment.
