Well, it’s not The Batman, but cinematographer Robert Richardson has finally landed a superhero gig.
TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that Richardson has joined the production team on Venom 2, which will be directed by Andy Serkis.
VENOM 2 IS COMING INTO FOCUS, with director Andy Serkisbringing on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cinematographer Robert Richardson.
Richardson is a three-time Oscar winner and frequent Quentin Tarantino collaborator. This is his first comic book movie, although he was attached to shoot The Batman back in its Ben Affleck-directed incarnation.
Richardson is a longtime collaborator with Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese.
His credits include Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained, Shutter Island, The Aviator, Hugo, Casino, and Natural Born Killers.
To me, this sounds like Sony Pictures making a huge effort to make sure the Venom sequel it’s some incoherent mess.
Filming has been said to begin this November, possibly in Atlanta, where the original was shot.
Sony Pictures has given the film an October 2020 release date.
