While we’re still in the dark about the return of Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Angela Bassett it looks like White Widow is now confirmed.
British actress Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Hobbs & Shaw) has revealed to Glamour that she is going to begin training for the Mission: Impossible sequels.
KIRBY: “I was really tired, I just got in from Canada and I was dying, I was dyinggg! I felt like a dishcloth. I just wrapped filming a movie (Pieces of a Woman) about a couple who lose a baby with Shia LaBeouf who is now one of my best friends – I love him so much. It was extremely intense and very dark so going into training for Mission Impossible is slightly going to release it all.”
Kirby’s character White Widow is directly linked to Vanessa Redgrave’s arms dealer Max from the original movie, as she is Max’s daughter.
We should be expecting a strong female presence with the next two installments.
Christopher McQuarrie is writing/directing to two untitled sequels that will be shot back-to-back, after giving us both Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
The growing cast the includes Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Doctor Sleep), Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Captain America: The First Avenger), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2, Avengers: Infinity War), Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class, Those Who Wish Me Dead), and Shea Whigham (Agent Carter).
It was recently announced that Henry Czerny, who played Eugene Kittridge in the original film would be making a return as well.
There had been rumors that McQuarrie might have Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin return for flashback scenes.
HN Entertainment previously confirmed that production on the two sequels will be taking place this year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England and will be using the working title of Libra during filming.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s working title was Gemini.
Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release on July 31st, 2021 and Mission: Impossible 8 on August 5th, 2022.
