It looks like we have an update of sorts concerning the production design of Cate Shortland’s Black Widow film as it looks like Maria Djurkovic (Red Sparrow) won’t be working on the film as previously expected as HN Entertainment has learned that production designer Charles Wood is now working on the comic book film instead.
Charles has extensive experience working on the MCU films with Doctor Strange, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of The Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Most of those projects being Marvel films shot in the United Kingdom.
Filming on Black Widow is said to begin this June and we’ve confirmed that will take place at Pinewood Studios UK under the working title of Blue Bayou.
Other production team members we’ve previously mentioned include art director Jim Barr (Star Wars: Episode IX, Avengers: Infinity War), costume designer Jany Temime (Skyfall) and 2nd unit director Darrin Prescott (Black Panther, John Wick 1-3, Baby Driver).
DiscussingFilm also revealed that Mission: Impossible – Fallout cinematographer Roby Hardy might be working on the film as well.
Scarlett Johansson will star with British actress Florence Pugh (The Little Drummer Girl) reportedly joining the film as a fellow badass spy. More casting announcements are said to be coming very soon.
A release date for Black Widow has yet to be made official but will likely be May 1st, 2020.
