Universal Pictures has given the upcoming action-thriller Nobody starring Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) an official release date of August 14th, 2020 via Deadline.
The film was written by John Wick creator/screenwriter Derek Kolstad. Also, will be produced by David Leitch and Kelly’s 87North, the producing duo recently signed a first-look deal with Universal.
An everyday man who gets pushed past his limits. The story follows a man (Odenkirk) who comes to the defense of a woman being harassed by thugs, only to learn later that one of the men he put in the hospital is the brother of a drug kingpin, now out for vengeance.
Deadline adds a bit more detail on the project with their own synopsis.
Odenkirk plays Hutch Mansell, the guy you don’t notice. A suburban dad, overlooked husband, nothing neighbor. A nobody. When two thieves break into his home one night, the incident ignites Hutch’s unknown long-simmering rage, propelling him on a brutal path that will uncover dark secrets he fought to leave behind.
Last September, I exclusively reported at OmegaUnderground (GWW) that the film’s director would be Hardcore Henry’s Ilya Naishuller. Which was later confirmed by screenwriter Derek Kolstad himself and then reaffirmed in this announcement from Universal.
Omega Underground has exclusively learned that Hardcore Henry director Ilya Naishuller is attached to the action thriller.
It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll end up getting a string of these Odenkirk movies.
