Universal has released the very first trailer for their upcoming World War I feature film 1917 from Skyfall director Sam Mendes.

 At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (George MacKay) and Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers, Blake’s own brother among them.

1917 is directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall), who the screenplay with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (Penny Dreadful, Last Night In Soho).

Other cast members include Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Zero Dark Thirty), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, The Bodyguard), Andrew Scott (Spectre, Sherlock), Colin Firth (King’s Speech, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange, Avengers: Infinity War), Adrian Scarborough, Jamie Parker, Nabhaan, Rizwan, and Claire Duburcq.

Universal Pictures will release 1917 on December 25th in limited selected theaters and then given a wide release on January 10th, 2020.
