‘Twisted Metal’ TV Series Reportedly In The Works From PlayStation Productions

It looks like Sony’s brand new PlayStation Productions which already has numerous projects on the table has found its first project, the popular vehicle combat game Twisted Metal.

At a recent Sony investor’s meeting, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra confirmed a Twisted Metal TV show is happening.

“We have a TV show we just agreed to get underway that will be developed from the IP on PlayStation, it’s called Twisted Metal. It’s a game that was put out many years ago and we’re going to develop a TV series around that.”

As of now, it is not known if the series will be an animated project or if the mayhem will be adapted to live-action. There also has been no mention of release as of yet. Sony attempted to make a live-action movie but those plans never materialized.

Released in 1995 on the original PlayStation, Twisted Metal is a series of vehicular combat video games published by Sony Computer Entertainment and developed by various companies. The series has appeared on multiple PlayStation consoles including, the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 3, which was the last console to release a Twisted Metal game back in 2012. As of October 31, 2000 the series has sold 5 million copies.
