It had been previously reported by trades that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios would behind a wave of live-action series for streaming service Disney+ that would be directly connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (not adjacent like other shows). Focusing on established characters from the movies that include Loki, Scarlet Witch, along with a Bucky/Falcon team-up series.
During Bob Iger’s Disney earnings call he confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will indeed reprise the role of Loki for the Disney+ series.
Tom Hiddleston has posted a brief message about the series on social media reaffirming his involvement.
“Loki. More Stories To Tell. More Mischief To Make. More To Come.”

Loki has been a key figure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2010 and has been part of five feature films including Thor, Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and lastly Avengers: Infinity War.
One of the biggest Marvel Studios moments at San Diego Comic-Con was when Tom showed up to Hall H in full costume and character to the delight of the audience.
There are plenty of spots in the existing continuity where they could focus on Loki either in or outside of Asgard. During his reign masquerading as Odin feels like the way to go as you could bring back people like Karl Urban and Idris Elba. He’s played a villain, a comedic foil, a usurper, and reluctant hero. It’ll be interesting to see which version they’ll pursue in the Disney+ series as Loki has plenty of his fans and people seem to dig all versions of him.
It does seem like this might be the first one to go into production but when is a little hazy at the moment.
Personally, the Loki in Thor: Ragnarok is the one I’d most like to see return for this show.
