According to Variety, the third series in the Walking Dead universe has found three of its leads.
Alexa Mansour, Hal Cumpston, & Nicolas Cantu have joined the upcoming AMC show in undisclosed roles. Mansour starred in last year’s Unfriended: Dark Web, and most recently appeared in CBS’s Madame Secretary. Details are scarce for her character but Variety describes her as “a good-natured rule-breaker who lives for today. She is likable and funny on the outside but sad on the inside”.
Newcomer Cumpston is said to play someone who is “too be big for his age. He is a shy loner that scares some kids, but he hates the fact that he scares people”. He starred in the Australian film Bilched earlier this year.
Cantu’s character is said to be “small for his age in addition to being friendly and an old soul.” He has appeared in shows like The Good Place and Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark.
The 10-episode season will follow two female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the zombie apocalypse. The young cast reflects that idea, which is an interesting concept that hasn’t been explored enough in the previous Walkling Dead shows.
Production is set to begin this summer in Virginia with 2020 release date on AMC.
