‘The Suicide Squad’s John Cena Also In The Mix For Steven Soderbergh’s Crime Thriller ‘Kill Switch’

Collider recently revealed that Steven Soderbergh would be directing a new crime flick set in the 1950s with Josh Brolin (Dune, Sicario, Avengers: Infinity War), Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2, Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven), and Sebastian Stan (Destroyer, Captain America: Civil War, 355) circling the lead roles.

Our pals at ThePlaylist add that John Cena is also being eyed for a role, the wrestler turned actor has had roles in Bumblebee, Fast & Furious 9, and is currently shooting James Gunn’s DC Comics film The Suicide Squad.

They’ve also added some key details on the project along with its tone.

“Kill Switch” is a crime drama, with elements of home invasion thriller, that is set in Detroit during the mid-‘50s. The film follows a group of criminals that are brought together under mysterious circumstances and have to work together to uncover what’s really going on when their simple job goes completely sideways. “Kill Switch” not only features some great drama and suspense, but there’s also a healthy amount of social commentary, as one of the leads is a Black man trying to deal with life in the pre-Civil Rights setting.

Kill Switch doesn’t currently have a release date.
