Deadline has learned that Lana Wachowski’s Matrix 4 is yet another big studio production that has now had to delay it’s filming over coronavirus concerns, it will resume production in Germany at a later date.
The fourth installment had recently moved shooting from San Francisco, California to Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam, Germany, which is located just outside of Berlin.
The cast includes Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe) alongside newcomers Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, Brian J. Smith, Eréndira Ibarra, Ellen Hollman, Andrew Caldwell and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Sony Pictures’ had also planned on using the same facility (HN Entertainment confirmed) in Germany and had just placed their Uncharted film starring Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and Wahlberg as his mentor Sully on hiatus as well for six weeks.
Filming on Uncharted was expected to begin in April.
Matrix 4 had a release date of May 21st, 2021 and Uncharted had been given a new spot of March 5th, 2021, it’s unknown if either will be able to hit those dates with these delays.
