HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that Disney’s Cruella movie has added production designer Fiona Crombie, who has worked on Oscar-winner The Favourite and Macbeth.
The latest Disney flick will be helmed by I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie.
Cruella will be an origin story of sorts for 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Ville and will be set during the 1970s in London, England.
The film will star Emma Stone (The Favourite, Birdman) as the titular Cruella and there are reports that Nicole Kidman may play the film’s villain called Baroness.
Cruella joins a large wave of live-action movies based on Disney’s animated feature films. Other projects similar that are on the horizon include The Little Mermaid, The Sword In The Stone, Pinocchio, Lilo and Stitch, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Snow White.
However, Cruella won’t be a carbon copy and will be much more original.
The Lion King, Lady and The Tramp, Mulan and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be released in the near future.
Disney has given Cruella a release date of December 23rd, 2020.
