While some may think that Black Panther, Green Book, Vice, or Bohemian Rhapsody might end up pulling an upset at this year’s Oscars ceremony by winning Best Picture, it looks like the top two contenders are actually going to be The Favourite and Roma.
The two nominated films have gathered 10 Oscar nominations each which places them as the top contenders for Best Picture, they are also nominated for Best Directing as well. A clear sign that it will likely be down to these two.
I wouldn’t completely count-out Adam McKay’s Vice and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born as they nabbed eight nominations as well.
Also, it looks like Incredibles 2 and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will be going head-to-head for Best Animated Feature. There is an extremely good chance that Spider-Verse could end up edging out the Pixar flick.
It will certainly be an interesting night if there are multiple upsets, not including for Best Pictures. There is a good chance some acting awards could end going to people that maybe weren’t really expected to win like those nominated for A Star Is Born. Spike Lee’s Blackkklansman might also pick up some statues as well.
Here are some of the nominations that were announced this morning and were also posted on the official Oscars website.
