HN Entertainment has been able to exclusively reveal that the Marvel Studios series The Falcon and The Winter soldier has added visual effects supervisor Eric Leven to the show’s growing post-production/production team.
Eric’s credits include Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield and the Seth McFarlane sci-fi comedy series The Orville.
HN previously revealed that the show’s production designer would be Raymond Chan, who has been a supervising art director on multiple MCU movies. Those projects include Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of The Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
The series (using the working title Tag Team during filming) will be directed by Kari Skogland (The Handmaid’s Tale) with writers Malcolm Spellman (Empire) and Derek Kolstad (John Wick) handing scripts.
Production is set to begin this month in Atlanta, Georgia.
Falcon’s cast will include Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka The Falcon/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, Daniel Bruhl as Zemo, and the new addition of Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent.
The show will be set after the events of Avengers: Endgame and will deal with the transition of Sam Wilson becoming the new Captain America after the mantle/shield has been passed down to Sam by a now-retired Steve Rogers.
We’ll also be getting our first live-action look at Sam in his Captain America uniform.
Other live-action series directly set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are coming to Disney+ include WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel.
Marvel’s Phase 4 will kick-off on May 1st, 2020 with the release of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow solo movie.
Budgets of the live-action shows are reportedly in the $100-150 million range.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is expected to be the first Marvel Studios series to be released on Disney+ and officially was announced to drop sometime in the fall of 2020.
