New Line Cinema is certainly seeing big returns on their horror films and the Conjuring cinematic universe is no exception. This summer we’ll see The Conjuring 3 go into production and we have a small crew update to share.
HN Entertainment has learned that visual effects supervisor Robert Nederhorst has joined the production team for James Wan’s The Conjuring 3, which will be helmed by The Curse of La Llorona director Michael Chaves. Robert’s credits include John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Tomb Raider, The Magnificent Seven, Ghostbusters, and Patriots Day.
The Curse of La Llorona has done some solid business as the horror flick has scared up an impressive $62.9 million worldwide on a budget of $9 million in its first week of release and dethroning Shazam! for the top spot domestically.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will again reprise their roles as the paranormal experts The Warrens with filming expected to kick-off this summer in Atlanta, Georgia.
Also, on the horizon is a sequel to The Nun, which itself is a spin-off from The Conjuring 2. The Nun sequel is reportedly being penned by screenwriter Akela Cooper (The 100, Luke Cage, American Horry Story). The next big release is Annabelle Comes Homes, which takes place in the home of The Warrens and will be released on June 28th.
The Conjuring 3 has been set by Warner Bros. for a release on September 11th, 2020.
