EntertainmentWeekly was lucky enough to sit down with the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which is set a couple of years after the fall of the Empire in The Return of The Jedi.
While speaking with the outlet at D23 Expo, they dished some new details about their characters on the series.
Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian: A solo bounty hunter that likes to work alone and goes by another name in the series.
Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon: The Moffs were Sector Governors of the First Galactic Empire. But now that the Empire has collapsed, the governors are on their own, and some still have armies at their behest — and this one is rather ambitious. He’s a regional warlord of sorts.
Gina Carano’s Cara Dune: A former shock trooper turned mercenary, she fought in the Galactic Civil War under the banner of the Rebellion.
Carl Weathers’ Greef Carga: The leader of the bounty hunters guild, Greed asks The Mandalorian to take on an assignment that nobody else wants.
Taika Waititi’s IG-11: Often gets mistaken for the famous IG-88 in the show (just as fans watching the trailer have mistaken him for IG-88 in real life).
Other cast members include Werner Herzog, Emily Swallow, Bill Burr, and the recently announced Ming-Na Wen.
It sounds like Lucasfilm and Disney are happy with what they’re seeing as HN Entertainment first reported that the studio had greenlit a second season even before they presented the show at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago earlier this year.
Jon Favreau is confirmed to be writing the second season and will be returning.
The Mandalorian is set to begin airing on the launch day of Disney+ on November 12th.
